In the meantime, please take a look at this public ritual with Ida van der Lee that honours deported Dutch Jews.

Event: Names and Numbers
Date: 4 May 2019, 11:00 – 20:00
Place: on Kastanjeplein, Amsterdam (NL)

‘Namen en nummers’ which means ‘Names and Numbers’, was created and is realised every 4 May (Dutch memorial day) in the Netherlands by ritual artist Ida van der Lee and about 70 volunteers. Ida is a member of our European Ritual Network.

Some years ago, when Ida realised that over 2,400 Jews on her street alone had been forced to leave their homes, she felt she had to ‘do something’ to commemorate the lives of the many that never returned. She wanted to give them their rightful place again in the neighbourhood – if only for one day per year.  See her web site here.

‘Names and Numbers is organised every 4 May (Dutch memorial day) by Ida van der Lee  to commemorate the lives of Dutch Jews who were deported from Amsterdam during WWII and never returned. Join Ida and the volunteers who put commemorate this event in the Kastanjeplein in Amsterdam each year!
